Astro Boy, originally named Atom, is a fictional character created by Osamu Tezuka. He is a robotic boy with human emotions and extraordinary abilities, designed to fight evil and promote peace between humans and robots.

He was created by Dr. Tenma, head of the Ministry of Science, to replace his deceased son, Tobio. However, Dr. Tenma, overwhelmed by grief and realizing Atom could not truly replace Tobio, sold him to a circus.

Professor Ochanomizu, recognizing Astro Boy's potential and inherent goodness, rescued him and became his legal guardian. He gave Astro Boy a new name and dedicated him to fighting crime and injustice.

Astro Boy's first appearance was in the manga Atom Ambassador in 1951, which later became part of the larger Astro Boy series. He subsequently starred in numerous animated TV shows, movies, and video games. His appearance is typically depicted as a young boy with a distinctive hairstyle, often shown wearing boots and a black outfit.
